Getting to know the works and their composers_ finding new dimensions

I began dissecting these works first by listening to them, writing down musical features that stood out, viewing and analysing the scores and album covers and any extra information available on the works such as articles, reviews and the context of the pieces, video performances online, further information provided by the composers themselves, on their websites and also the way the works have been used more recently in creating newer works such as remixes and commissioned works, for students to think about which aspects of a piece to best use or manipulate. Why are certain aspects of a work intriguing and reusable in the current timeframe.
